NOTES |
Belle was still living with her parents, (Henry and Elizabeth), in Collier, PA during the 1880 Census, working as a school teacher. Henry was
a shoemaker. The Census records in 185070 list Henry as being born in France and Elizabeth in Germany, while the 1880 Census has them both
listed as being born in Prussia. A John Deidolf, presumably Elizabeths father, (born a.1800 in Germany), was listed as living with
them in the 1850 and 1870 Census records. While speculative, it is likely that Belle died during childbirth, or shortly thereafter, as her youngest child, Ruth, was only three years old during the 1900 Census, Hunter was listed as a widow, and her niece, Cora Winstein, was living with the family at the time. (Cora was the daughter of Belles brother, William, and was later married to Hunters nephew, Charles Davis, son of Richard Biddle Davis.) |
